Support

Help without handing over your private work.

Start with the quick guide and current release notes. If you need help, the support team can work from the smallest set of steps that reproduces the issue.

Before contacting support

  1. Check the changelog for the current release and known fixes.
  2. Restart the app after completing a restore or system permission change.
  3. Confirm your Windows or macOS version and the app version shown in the app’s About information.
  4. Try to describe the smallest set of steps that reproduces the issue.

What to include

A helpful support message includes the app version, your operating system and its version, what you expected, what happened instead, and the steps that led to it. A screenshot with private content redacted can be useful when it is safe for you to share.

What not to send

Do not send an API key, OAuth token, backup passphrase, license key, raw workspace database, or encrypted backup file by email. Support should never need those secrets to understand an issue.

Backups and restores

If you are concerned about data, create an encrypted backup before trying a large change. In the app, open Settings → Backup. The backup passphrase is intentionally not recoverable, so store it safely and separately from the .mmbackup file.

Restores are staged to take effect on the next app launch. Read the restore warning before you confirm so you understand which local workspace will be replaced.

Local data location

On macOS, the workspace database is stored at ~/Library/Application Support/com.mindmarshal.app/mindmarshal.db. On Windows it is %APPDATA%\com.mindmarshal.app\mindmarshal.db. This path is useful for recovery planning, but do not attach that database to a support request unless you have independently reviewed and approved the data disclosure.
